Behaviourism in Real Life
In this lesson, we will be looking at and reflecting on behaviourism on display in the real world. Remember what you learned in the first lesson to help you determine which type of conditioning is present! Feel free to navigate back to Lesson 1 using the top menu bar if you need a refresher on the concepts.
Choose one of the following videos, identify whether it’s classical or operant conditioning, and reflect on your choice.
Option 1: The Office
Option 2: Big Bang Theory
Take some time to formulate your response to the reflection prompt:
‘Identify which video you watched and the type of conditioning, classical or operant, evident in the video. Then reflect on why the situation in the video is that type of conditioning and identify a situation in your life where you have seen this type of conditioning take place.’
Your response can be around 50 words, but feel free to go over! Post your reflection as a comment on this page below.
Then read through others’ reflections and choose 2 to respond to. Make sure your response is building on the ideas in the reflection. If you find yourself having a differing opinion with their response, use language such as ‘I wonder if… could also be…’ to invite them to receive your opinion.
Make sure to look at the Reflection + Peer Responses Rubric to view the assessment criteria.
