Lesson 3

Applying Behaviourism

Take a Brain Break (Optional) – expand to view

Before continuing with the last section of this workshop, consider taking a brief 5-minute break. Breaks are actually quite helpful when learning or studying, as they give your brain time to soak in the new information, increase your productivity, and refocus (National Institutes of Health, 2021)! You may be familiar with a study approach that adopts this concept, called the Pomodoro Technique. This method was actually developed by a university student during the late 1980s (Coursera, 2024). Use this time to stretch your body, hydrate, and give your eyes a rest from screen time.

You’re welcome to use the 5-minute timer provided below during your break, or if you’re still feeling focused and engaged, continue on with Lesson 3!

Let’s dive into the final lesson in this workshop. This is where we will take everything you’ve learned so far and practice building study plans that work for you!

In this lesson, you’ll practice applying behaviourism concepts to create a personalized study plan that works for you. Choose one of the conditioning techniques, classical or operant, that you feel best suits you to base your study plan around. If you need a reminder of the key characteristics of these techniques, you may navigate back to the previous lessons.

Choose one of the two ways to present your study plan.

1 Use the Study Plan Template2 Create a powerpoint

Take a look at both the Study Plan Instructions Sheet and the Study Plan Rubric to understand the pieces needed for your study plan. This is expected to take you ~1 hour to complete, so take your time. If you have any questions, please email us at edcigroup9@outlook.com, and we will respond as soon as we can!

Submission: Once you have completed your study plan, please upload it here as a PDF.
